THE ZAVELO WIG GUIDE
Choose with confidence.
Care with intention.
A practical guide to finding your style and keeping your human hair wig looking its best.
01 / FIND YOUR STYLE
Choose the look. Then check the details.
Think about the finish you enjoy wearing, the time you want to spend styling and how much fullness feels right for you.
Texture
Straight styles offer a sleek finish. Body waves give a softer shape. Defined curls create volume and need a routine that preserves their pattern. Choose the texture you want to wear most often.
Colour
Start with a familiar shade or explore a statement colour. Screen settings and lighting can change how a shade appears. Contact us if you need help with a product colour before ordering.
Density
Density describes fullness, rather than hair quality. Higher percentages generally indicate a fuller look. Texture, length and styling also affect volume, so compare the complete design rather than the number alone.
Understanding lengths
Length is listed in inches. The same length can look different on a bob, a straight style or a curly wig, and where it falls depends on your proportions and the cut.
| Length range | Consider it for |
|---|---|
| 8–14″ | Shorter looks and bob silhouettes |
| 16–22″ | Medium to longer styles with movement |
| 24″ and longer | A longer statement look and more hair to maintain |
These are broad style ranges, not guaranteed positions on the body. Our variant images are illustrated length guides. Do not assume a stretched measurement method unless the individual product confirms it.
Lace fronts, closures and T-parts
- Lace front: lace extends across the front hairline. The parting area depends on the construction.
- Closure: a smaller lace area around the part. Styling is limited to that area.
- T-part: a narrow lace part joined to lace at the front. Parting flexibility is more limited.
- Dimensions such as 5×5 or 13×4: usually describe the lace area in inches, not the cap size.
- HD lace: describes fine lace intended to blend discreetly. The result depends on fit, preparation and application; it does not mean the wig needs no maintenance.
Choose the construction listed on the specific product. A lace front is not the same as a full-lace cap.
What “glueless” and “pre-cut” mean
A glueless design is intended to be secured without adhesive using its fitted cap, straps, band or other supplied features. It still needs a comfortable, secure fit. Pre-cut lace means the excess lace has already been trimmed; other lace wigs may need customisation.
Pre-plucked hairlines and bleached knots refer to preparation features. They do not guarantee that no fitting or styling will be needed. Check which features your product actually includes.
02 / FIT & FIRST WEAR
A comfortable fit comes first.
Measure before you order
Flatten your own hair as you expect to wear it beneath the wig. Use a soft measuring tape around your hairline, above your ears and around the nape, returning to the starting point. Keep the tape comfortable, without pulling it tight.
Compare your measurement with the cap details on the product page. “Medium” is not a universal size, and adjustable straps do not make every cap fit every head. If the size is unclear, contact us before purchasing.
Your first fitting
- Check the colour, selected length, cap and lace before trimming, colouring or otherwise altering the wig. Contact us about any concern and review our return policy.
- Prepare a flat base. A wig cap is optional; choose one that feels comfortable.
- Hold the cap rather than pulling the lace. Position the front at your natural hairline and align the sides.
- Adjust the straps gradually. The wig should feel secure without pressure or pinching.
- Check movement and comfort before styling. Ask a wig specialist for help if you are new to fitting or lace trimming.
Do not force combs or clips against sensitive skin. You should not need to tolerate discomfort to keep a wig in place.
Lace and adhesive care
Handle fine lace gently. Avoid tugging, scratching, over-plucking or putting pins through the lace. If trimming is needed, an experienced stylist can help preserve the hairline.
If you choose to use adhesive, use a product intended for wig application and follow its application, patch-test and removal instructions. Never pull bonded lace off dry; release it with the recommended remover first.
03 / GENERAL CARE
A gentle routine makes a difference.
Daily care & detangling
Work through small sections from the ends upward, supporting the hair above each tangle. Use a suitable wide-tooth comb; avoid pulling at the lace or knots. Pay attention to the nape, where clothing creates friction.
Keep products light and use only those suitable for human hair wigs. Place conditioning products on the lengths, away from the cap and knots.
How to wash your human hair wig
Wash when sweat, odour or product build-up calls for it. Frequency depends on wear and activity; unnecessary washing can add handling and wear.
- Gently detangle before wetting.
- Support the cap and wet with cool to lukewarm running water, keeping the hair flowing downward.
- Use a small amount of shampoo formulated for human hair wigs. Smooth through gently; avoid rubbing, twisting or soaking.
- Rinse thoroughly. Apply suitable conditioner to the lengths and ends, keeping it off the cap and knots. Follow its directions and rinse again.
- Blot gently with a towel. Do not wring. Place on a suitable stand, without stretching the damp cap.
Let the cap dry completely before wearing or putting the wig away. Follow the style’s drying instructions; a careful blow-dry may be needed to restore a polished finish.
Straight, wavy & curly styles
Straight: gentle detangling and a controlled blow-dry can restore a smooth shape.
Wavy and curly: use fingers or a wide-tooth comb gently in sections. Avoid dry brushing if you want to keep the defined pattern. Reshape without excessive tension.
Washing or heat styling can change the finish. Ask a wig stylist for help restoring a cut or curl pattern rather than repeatedly applying heat.
Heat, colour & salon styling
Check that heat styling is suitable for your specific wig. Use heat protectant and temperature-controlled tools at the lowest effective setting. Hot irons should only touch dry hair; keep heat away from the lace and cap.
Have cutting, colouring, bleaching or chemical texture changes assessed by a stylist experienced with wigs. Human hair does not mean every colour treatment is suitable, especially on already processed shades.
Storage, sleep & travel
Rest the fully dry wig on an appropriately sized stand or store it loosely in a clean protective bag. Keep it away from direct sun, damp spaces and strong heat. Do not stretch the cap over an oversized head.
Removing the wig before sleep reduces rubbing and tangling. For travel, protect the lace and keep the hair arranged loosely. Avoid swimming in your wig; chlorine, salt water and friction can affect the hair and colour.
04 / COMMON QUESTIONS
A little clarity before you begin.
How long will my wig last?
There is no single lifespan for every wig. Frequency of wear, handling, heat, chemical treatments and storage all matter. A gentle routine helps preserve the hair and cap, but we do not promise a fixed number of months or years.
What if the hair tangles or sheds?
Do not force a comb through matting. Detangle slowly and review your routine, product build-up and friction around the nape. Heavy shedding, damaged lace or persistent matting needs advice—contact us, particularly if you notice it when the wig first arrives.
Will it look exactly like the gallery?
Gallery images show the intended style. Fit, parting, styling, lighting and individual proportions influence the result. Illustrated length images are guides; check the written specifications and selected option before ordering.
Choosing a wig during hair loss
Take your time and prioritise comfort. A familiar style can be a starting point, or you may want something different. We can help explain product details. If your scalp is tender or irritated during treatment, ask your care team about wearing a wig and using adhesives.
Need help choosing?
Tell us the style you are considering and what you would like to know. We will help you understand its details.
